The Compass Heading For Change

It’s time to hit the reset button: to learn from our past and set a new compass heading for
rebuilding our cities. Our approach must ensure health, well-being, and sustainability, and permit
a renewed sense of community to emerge.

Our vision is to create a built environment designed around and for the human, where people can
live, work, and play, with renewable energy sources that result in a carbon-neutral habitat. This
multigenerational, livable, healthy, and carbon-neutral community must be scalable and replicable.

One of the greatest global challenges we face today is increased urbanization driven by two
converging generations: the aging population and the millennials. It is through this
intergenerational perspective that the cities of the future must be designed. Our cities must be
livable, enabling citizens of all ages to lead healthy, active, and independent lives through
supportive built environments. They must be resilient to improve the efficiency and
effectiveness of social systems through age-friendly policies that unlock the longevity dividend.
They must be sustainable and carbon-neutral, capable of producing more renewable energy than
they consume. And they must be economically viable, capable of attracting investment,
spawning entrepreneurship and creating the most coveted knowledge-intensive jobs of the global
economy…
