New Book Release!
We are pleased to announce that our submission has been accepted and is included as the chapter Leading Humans in the Age of AI – Why We Need Integrator Leaders, in the newly released book “Solider-Leaders in the Age of AI”.
LaRue and Solomon explore the challenges that leaders will face as we move further into the Age of AI and why it will take those with the traits and behaviors of an Integrator Leader, a term they have coined, to achieve needed outcomes.
The focus of the Integrator Leader is to provide clear intent and rationale, guided by key principles, while utilizing AI as a means of extending the reach and capability of self-organizing teams of knowledge workers. With less attention given to the mechanics of managing workers, and with knowledge workers spending less time managing data, both can become more strategic. This will place a premium on the leader’s ability to drive innovation and integrate the efforts of specialized cross-functional teams across the enterprise.
Solider-Leaders in the Age of AI stems from the initiative by the University of North Georgia’s (UNG) Institute for Leadership and Strategic Studies (ILSS) with its partnership with the U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute. Their timely study focuses on how advances in science and technology will shape the future battlefield operating environment and support the future soldier-leader; the influence of science and technology advances on future military leadership education; and the impact of artificial intelligence and technological initiatives on the ethical decision-making and ethical leadership.
In addition to Jim Solomon serving as a facilitator for the Ethical Leadership Panel, notable symposium participants included Major General Bob Scales, U.S. Army, Retired, author of Scales on War – The Future of America’s Military at Risk, military analyst and news commentator; Dr. Bryson Payne nationally renowned cyber expert, speaker, and professor; Mr. Paul Scharre, Vice President and Director of Studies at the Center for a New American Security and award-winning author of Army of None: Autonomous Weapons and the Future of War; Colonel Candice E. Frost, U.S. Army, nationally recognized mentor to the world’s future leaders in the intelligence and national security community; Josh Bowen, founder of 3×5 Leadership, making people and organizations better through leader development; Dr. Charles Dunlap, Jr. professor of the practice of law, Duke University (Duke Law), and Executive Director, Center on Law, Ethics and National Security; and Colonel Tony Pfaff, Ph.D., U.S. Army, Retired, Nonresident Senior Fellow, Research Professor for the Military Profession and Ethic, Strategic Studies Institute (SSI), US Army War College.
